jungle gyms

google image search....jungle gyms. simple but complex structure good imagery for me to draw from

simplistic imagery

this is some simplistic imagery that i found through computer arts. Don't over complicate designs!

mike place - build

need to produce much more simpler designs! work at the moment is to complex

bostock and pollitt design

We began with a teaser email campaign to stimulate intrigue and expectation in the run-up to a launch event in May - including chocolates and cards on Valentine's, AstroTurf invitations to the British Open for 'one-on-ones' and a receipt for the launch invitation. Following the launch, every participant invitee received a comprehensive leasing pack. We also produced a website to support the campaign.

I like how this teaser campaign has been separated into a set of different elements that have specific contexts.
i could incorporate into my design this concept and brake down the elements associated with playgrounds and do an individual design for each one.

A target group of 4- to 15-year-old boys and girls is not easy to communicate to. The visual style created for British Airways Skyflyers was based on a 'dot' formation. As well as its broad appeal - confirmed by research - it has great flexibility. For very young children, the 'dot-to-dot' style is reminiscent of a jigsaw while it also feels funkier for the older age range.

Jeffrey Bowman - creative type

i really like how the letters have been made from the chunks of wood. this has given me a bit of inspiration to kick start this brief.....again.!
need to start designing for this one again.

Airfix

this idea is a take on the shape of climbing frames and the different parts that you get within it. i think the rounded bars and attachments seem very similar to the shape and sections of playgrounds, this could be a way of creating my tree.

this can draw on my passing idea of customizing the design the tree could be made from this kind of styled stuff but all the sections could be cut out to make a real playground around the tree maybe!

Tree shapes

i wanted to look at the shapes of trees and designs that are already out there, i wanted to get a range of different styles so i looked at vectors, tattoo's photo's etc. i thought this would give me a range of different perspectives and tree shapes.

Pencil drawing of a tree, very detailed drawing, but with a unrealistic approach to the design of the leaves on the tree. i like the large trunk in comparison to the leaves as i feel it works in proportion.

This very vectored style is interesting but i think it's too simplistic and un-tree like, i think vectors could create and interesting way of solving my design as it will be clean cut and easy to edit the designs scale and form. i like how the leaves and flowers have been created and the colour pallet used by the creator the orange, blues and greens are really interesting but very unrealistic to the actual object.

I like how the roots spread on this design and this is something that i could incorporate into my design. possibly generate some creative type out of the roots, i think the ratio of the tree to the roots is to much in the favour of the roots and this over powers the design so i would need to make sure the balance is right and the key piece the tree is the biggest thing along with keeping the number 1 clear to see within the design. i could create the playground bars frame from this or the title of the piece could be incorporated into the roots and frame design.

this is a very interesting vector design i like how the skeleton's help create the tree shape and how the arms and legs seem to morph into branches. I should really make sure my design is interesting and not showing obvious thinking like drawing just a tree. i think that if the climbing frame evolved from the number one could be really interesting and may help limit the colour pallet such as in this design which is just black this is something i need to consider as i feel colour will help create a very high impact design.

This design is really interesting as it is kind of on the same lines as my idea, a metal frame creating a tree shape, this design shows the the ridged mature of metal or in my case a climbing frame structure can still generate and create a tree like design, i will need to consider the line thicknesses especially as the design branches out.

i think that these designs have given me an understanding of the shape i need/ want to create for my piece i need to see how i can create a climbing frame into the shape of a tree, therefore i will need to develop my ideas and generate test pieces to see what design work best.

As my idea goes i feel that just using the climbing frame shape will make the design a little boring that's why i feel incorporating some creative text out of the climbing frame or including imagery such as slides etc will help make the piece more visually interesting.

Idea/ concept

This is just a passing idea but the 1 or the tree shape could be folded or used to create something else so for example a stalk origami design. or the tree itself could fold out of the 1.
the concept behind this is that the company is to create an Eco paper stock there for this would work on to levels using the paper as different functions so it is used for longer and not thrown out straight away. or the image could be cut out/sections could be cut out or the piece as a whole is a single poster that can be removed from the image and there are ways you can personalise the design/ idea but will need a lot of work and research. think I'm going to stay with my initial concept to create the image, if there is time i would like to look more into how the design could be used to create another object or something like that.

Playgrounds

i felt i needed to look at specific examples of how climbing frames are fixed and the kinds of swings and things you find on trees, i think the shapes and designs give me interesting imagery to work with but i need to put that into my design cleverly, think i will aim to create the shape of the tree out of climbing frame but incorporate the slides, swings etc into the design.

could create the shape to look similar to air fix sets!!!! as i have objects that need to be incorporated into a frame....possible idea i need to look into!

Yulia brodskaya-enviroment

Yulia Brodskaya:

These are some specific designs that i picked out from Yulia's work. I picked out these designs as they had a similar visual form to the layout of my brief to create a tree design. i really liked how the tree has been created out of paper (a style she uses a lot over all her work) also how she has included animals and figures with in the shape and overall make up of the tree.
this gives me the idea of creating the tree from play ground objects such as slides swings include there shape in the design, maybe actually use different shaped slides/ swings to create the shape and the form of the tree! i need to get some ideas down and see how this could potentially work.

Climbing Frames

my concept for this brief is the tree is a playground so i wanted to look at interesting shapes that are created by children's playground structures so i was sure my design would be appropriate to the subject and to find something that will help create an interesting shape and image for this piece. It seems that most of the designs follow similar trends and contain the same apparatus, such as slides swings, ladders etc, so i may benefit from looking at these designs as well as this could throw up some more simplistic imagery. i feel that a more simplistic design would work over a more detailed complex looking design as i only have a small work space to design within, and a lot of these designs have interesting elements but if i where to recreate similar designs to the more complex design i feel the concept of the playground may be lost. but i will look at and develop my designs to see what would work best. Also i think i would benefit from looking at the fixing's and how the structures are put together as i think this could help create some interesting shapes and make the design more appropriate to the subject matter.
