Type creating image & image creating type:










i am really interested and inspired by these type designs as i really like how the pieces of type are firstly all hand crafted, along with this the influence of generating these designs by merging together type and image in the form of illustration. i like how the text has been presented on the "dwell" design as the trees are used to create the type very skill fully done creating very strong type design at the same time but making it more aesthetic. but also keep a concept of the magazine and what it is about. "sex beyond porn" the type is simply and well laid out and then created using very appropriate imagery for the subject of the text. i really like the dollar bill sign design i feel that by doing this mike perry has created a piece of imagery that stands out and bring something that is an important issue out and draws people in and then read what he piece is saying, this is what i feel creates a much more interesting way than just writing standard text.

As i hope to look at the environment there is so much imagery and the facts and figures i could find out could help me create a piece which is created by the collaboration of type and image, to help deliver an important message and information.

Illustrated Type:


i really like the idea of creating type from objects and creating type not just by using pens but cut out of paper, photo's, news paper etc. i think this could create some really interesting imagery especially the possible textures that materials offer. i really like the bold colours and solid text it's simple but the shapes that mike perry creates and the way he sets his designs out are really interesting but don't try to hide the fact the pieces are created by hand.

Design work for Urban Outfitters & fashion designers:





As one of my briefs is for Urban outfitters i found some work that Mike Perry had previously done with them to get an idea of the work that they may like and also what has come before so i don't RE-CREATE something that has gone before as i want to create something that is new and interesting. i like the simplicity of using just black letters and allow the shape of the text to create the aesthetics. i think with my work i would like to limit the colours but make the use of colour appropriate but aesthetically pleasing as when submitted i want the pieces to eventually be sold.
