heads of state

this piece of work was produced for Mckinsey Quarterly (magazine) and produced to go along with and article on bullies in the workplace.
the design itself has been produced with a very simplistic reosloution however i think this is a great deivery as the message is so strong that the impact is in what the image is saying. the purpose of the image is to visualise the concepts discussed in an article, therefore the design outcome has been simplified, however continues a style which can be seen in the heads of state's work which is this grainy and bracking of straight edges and full block colour's which have been replaced with imperfect colour application, but this is their intention and style. something which works nbicely in this image and is very nice but in others i feel it is too much and doesn't look as good. for example: > (next image as and example of the imperfections)

i feel that this style brings the design back to the roots of how the piece is made and the production method influencing the desgin of the piece
(this idea of method influencing the aesthetic of the piece is discussed by victor Papanek)

article the design was for - What needs to be done this century to reform the health care industry

design for mens health article on the benefits and drawbacks of caffeine as a performance enhancer in cycling and of the sports

these are a couple of pieces of work that have been taken from work the heads of state have produced for previous clients and briefs which are now being sold as individual prints on their web site. by themselves. but it doesn't state if they are part of an edition or not. the two pieces tho do have contrast as one is vey clean cut whilst the other has a grany feel like alot of their other work they produce.

i feel that the work that the heads of state is very much produced in their own style, but using the concepts of the article that they are designing for as the underlying focus of the design. this is something that i would need to consider if i was to design pieces for articles in papers and magazines the visual representation of an article - summing it up in one image.
