hands as tools

this idea came from Fred saying one morning about how the association of a paint brush did not really show the diversity of the college as alot of members of graphics hasn't touched a paint brush in years. so it got me thinking and i liked the idea of showing of our craft and the tools we use as this can define the type of college we are. therfore i was looking at some of the designers i have been researching for inspiration and came up with this:


















the concept of this idea is gang signs and instead of using the cribs and bloods the desgin is saying lonely punks. i really like the hand crafted style and is something i want to bring to the end of year show project, because i think a touch of a crafty edge will be more specific to the college and the versatility the college offers.
the idea is that the hands are used to craft the work and they are in some ay our tools. which leads me onto that it's not just our hands but our brains and our eyes and i like the idea that the work is brought back to the students as creatives rather than the generic items that revolve around peoples peceptions of art and design. also i don't like the idea of the college name being stated as more of an art college when it only really offers two art courses the rest more design bassed therefor the idea of including the thought process which is ever present in design and that again it's not genralising with just using hands as not everyone is a crafter some are thinkers!
